Blair Jennings has a comprehensive knowledge of criminal law and procedure in South Carolina. During his fourteen-year career as a local prosecutor, Blair prosecuted thousands of criminal cases, focusing predominantly on violent crimes such as, Murder, Armed Robbery, Criminal Sexual Conduct, Felony DUI’s and Drug Distribution and Trafficking. He has extensive trial experience, having tried over sixty cases before juries in Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, and Richland Counties. The largest percentage of these jury trials dealt with violent felony offenders, including four Death Penalty cases.
During his career, Blair prosecuted over 100 homicide cases, including Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter, Involuntary Manslaughter, Homicide by Child Abuse, Reckless Homicide and Felony Driving Under the Influence Causing Death. Several of these cases have been featured on Court TV, America’s Most Wanted, and Dateline.
Blair has also dealt extensively with South Carolina’s Criminal Domestic Violence and Driving Under the Influence statutes. While with the Berkeley and Dorchester County Solicitor’s Offices, Blair worked with local magistrates and law enforcement officials to create the Criminal Domestic Violence Court. Blair has taught numerous classes to local law enforcement officers updating them on changes to the state’s DUI and CDV laws. In addition, Blair has assisted with the prosecution of DUI’s for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Charleston Aviation Authority Police Department.
As Deputy Solicitor, Blair developed an extensive working relationship with law enforcement, local prosecutors, magistrates, and circuit court judges in Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester and Orangeburg counties. Over the last 10 years, Blair has provided legal/courtroom training for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the Goose Creek Police Department, the Moncks Corner Police Department, local Fraternal Order of Police lodges, and the TriCounty Law Enforcement Network, as well as the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina, instructing prosecutors from around the country.
